1Quick Ways to Save Money
Make your coffee at home
A coffee from a coffee shop can set you back up to $5 dollars a day. If you working five days a week and paying $5 for coffee, means you are spending $25 a week on coffee alone.
That’s a sizable amount of money over time, over $100 a month for your daily caffeine fix, $1200 a year. Crazy, isn’t it?
Have your breakfast at home
There is nothing more frustrating than rushing to work on an empty stomach, and not being able to eat breakfast in time for your first meeting. Eating breakfast at home can save you the hustle and cost of getting your favorite bagel from the café next door!
Plan your grocery list
How many times have we all gone grocery shopping and when the cashier rings your final purchase, you find you don’t have enough money? Sure, you count the items you put in the basket, but somehow, it never adds up to what you expect.
I am sure this has happened to every single one of us at one time or another. When you plan grocery shopping, you typically wouldn’t add things you don’t need so you don’t have surprises at checkout.
2Ways to save money on a tight budget
Be creative when buying gifts
Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas, to name a few, all set us back hundreds of dollars a year. Buy during the year and put away until the big day.
The best times to buy are after holidays. Chocolates can be frozen and perfumes go on sale the day after a major holiday. Check with discounts stores to get gift sets at special, low rates. Throw them all in a basket or bag, and they will think you have spent way too much on them. 😉
Cut out cable TV
With over 100s of channels and your favorite TV shows to watch all on cable, why would you want to cut that out? For the simple reason that there are much cheaper mediums that can provide you with everything you want and more.
Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu all provide you with most of your favorite TV shows for much less than with cable. You can even dismiss the commercials and still only pay a low fee each month.
If you didn’t know, Hulu offers a referral program or use you Bing rewards to pay for Hulu. This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t watch a lot of TV or prefer to watch movies only. This is how to save money fast like I did.
3How to save money every month
You’ve got to cut it
Stop using your credit cards if you want to save money. Yes, you want your credit score to improve, but this may not be the best for saving. We all know the money on the credit card is not ours, but rather a convenient loan from the credit card company.
You are spending what you don’t have! Without a credit card, you will spend within your means and not stretch your finances because you have a cushion.
Invite your friends over rather than go out
Most of us have a social life, and people always think it means going out. You can still have a social life at home.
Ask friends to your house. Meeting at home saves you in transportation fees, costs of dinner, and drinks. Not to mention, your friends will always chip in to bring something over for the gathering!
Cancel subscriptions you rarely use
How often do we use our gym memberships? How often do you read the magazines or newspapers you subscribe to?
Is it once a week, once a month, or even once every other month? A lot of us do not make the most of the subscriptions we have. Canceling membership subscriptions is a quick way to save money.
Stop spending and start selling
Yes, everyone is a hoarder of something! If you look in your closet, you’ll find the collection of books, CD’s, shoes, clothes, and electronics, you haven’t seen in years. All these items can earn you money.
Try selling online through websites such as eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon. So instead of spending more on things you already have, sell what you no longer use and you will have money in your own pocket! This is how to save money fast for a car, well, one of them.
Keep a track of your spending
This is something that can be hard for anyone who does not look at their bank balance. By keeping track of what you are spending, you will notice some costs can be avoided, which will quickly save you money.
My graph tells me each month where my money is spent. When you find the largest piece of the pie, see where you can cut spending in half.
4How to save money on a low income?
Save your change!
Empty your pockets at the end of the day and put the change in a jar. By the end of the month, you will be surprised how much the quarters, nickels and dimes add up to be.
It was the only way I knew how to save money fast as a kid and it still works. By the end of the year, you should have a nice amount of money to put in the bank. Don’t forget to start over once you have cashed out.
Take your leftover dinner to lunch
Some don’t like having the same thing two days in a row, but taking a packed lunch to work will save you from having to buy lunch every day.
Make a roast beef sandwich using the meat from last night. Shred your meat and top it on your favorite greens for your lunch the next day. The aroma coming from the microwave will make everyone envious. Michelin style cooking made from home at no extra cost!
If you want to know how to save money for a house, the answer is to save more, spend less. It’s just that simple. Instead of buying new, buy refurbished items and try purchasing wholesale.
Buy in bulk and buy offseason. Use coupons and coupon codes for everything, including the trip through the drive-thru if you must eat out.
