Here’s How To Save Money Each Month

Why save money? Times are hard for a lot of working-class individuals. Living paycheck to paycheck is stressful so we must learn how to cut corners to save our hard earned money.

We should save money because life is filled with unexpected occurrences like car repairs or when you need to buy a new kitchen appliance for the home. If you want to know some unique ways to put money back in your pocket, take some friend advice from the save money crew.

How to Budget and Save Money

Make your coffee at home

A coffee from a coffee shop can set you back $5 a day. If you’re working five days a week and paying $5 for coffee, that means you are spending $25 a week on coffee alone.

That’s a sizable amount of money over time, over $100 a month for your daily caffeine fix, $1200 a year. Some people spend the same amount or more on Red Bulls every day – it’s almost like an addiction. Crazy, isn’t it?

Have your breakfast at home

There is nothing more frustrating than rushing to work on an empty stomach, and not being able to eat breakfast in time for your first meeting. Get up about 15 minutes earlier and start eating breakfast at home. It can save you the stress of sitting in the busy drive-thru and the cost of getting your favorite bagel from your favorite pastry shop.

Plan your grocery list

How many times have we all gone grocery shopping hungry and when the cashier rings your final purchase, you find you don’t have enough money? Sure, you count the items you put in the basket, but somehow, it never adds up to what you expect.

I am sure this has happened to every single one of us at one time or another. When you plan grocery shopping and shop online for curbside delivery, you may not add things you don’t need so you don’t have surprises at checkout.

Refinance loans with lower APR

When you get in debt, it can seem like it takes you forever to get out of the hole. One reason for this endless pit is high-interest rate loans and credit cards. The interest alone can cost you hundreds every year. We suggest refinancing with lower rates, double up on payments, make payments every two weeks instead of monthly, or pay over what’s required each month.

Best Way to Budget Monthly Expenses

Be creative when buying gifts

Birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas, to name a few, all set us back hundreds of dollars a year. Buy during the year and put away until the big day.

How to save money for kids, and other family members? Well, the best times to buy are after holidays. Check with discount stores to get gift sets at special, low rates. Throw a lot of small items in a gift basket or bag along with their favorite treats, and they will think you have spent way too much on them.

Cut out cable TV

With over 100s of channels and your favorite TV shows to watch all on cable, why would you want to cut that out? For the simple reason that there are much cheaper mediums that can provide you with everything you want and more.

Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu all provide you with most of your favorite TV shows for much less than with cable. You can even dismiss the commercials and still only pay a low fee each month.

If you didn’t know, Hulu offers a referral program or you can use Bing rewards to pay for Hulu. This is a great opportunity for someone who doesn’t watch a lot of TV or prefers to watch movies only. This is how to save money fast like I did.

How to save money every month

You’ve got to cut it

Stop using your credit cards if you want to save money. Yes, you want your credit score to improve, but this may not be the best for saving. We all know the money on the credit card is not ours, but rather a convenient loan from the credit card company.

You are spending what you don’t have! Without a credit card, you will spend within your means and not stretch your finances because you have a cushion.

Invite your friends over rather than go out

How to budget your money when you’re a social butterfly? While most of us have a social life, people always think it means going out. You can still have a social life at home.

Ask friends to your house. Meeting at home saves you in transportation fees, costs of dinner, and drinks. Not to mention, your friends will always chip in to bring something over for the gathering!

Cancel subscriptions you rarely use

How often do we use our gym memberships? How often do you read the magazines or newspapers you subscribe to?

Is it once a week, once a month, or even once every other month? A lot of us do not make the most of the subscriptions we have. Canceling membership subscriptions is a quick way to save money.

Stop spending and start selling

Yes, everyone is a hoarder of something! If you look in your closet, you’ll find a collection of books, CD’s, shoes, clothes, and electronics you haven’t seen in years. All these items can earn you money.

Try selling online through websites such as eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon. So instead of spending more on things you already have, sell what you no longer use and you will have money in your own pocket! This is how to save money fast for a car, well, one of them.

Compare insurance companies

Shop around for the best insurance rates. There’s going to be one company that has everything you need and it’s going to save you money each month. I’ve had personal experience with Geico and they are a sharp company. I like the way they operate, so call them for an insurance quote.

Keep a track of your spending

How to save 1000 dollars fast? Well, it’s hard for anyone who does not look at their bank balance. By keeping track of what you are spending, you will notice some costs can be avoided, which will quickly save you money.

My graph tells me each month where my money is spent. When you find the largest piece of the pie, see where you can cut spending in half.

Creative Ways to Save Money

Save your change!

Empty your pockets at the end of the day and put the change in a jar. By the end of the month, you will be surprised how much the quarters, nickels and dimes add up to be.

It was the only way I knew how to save money fast as a kid and it still works. By the end of the year, you should have a nice amount of money to put in the bank. Don’t forget to start over once you have cashed out.

Find activities that are free

There are a lot of events that are free or don’t cost a lot. You can have a movie night at home with popcorn and soda. Set up the projection screen outdoors and call your friends and family over. Often kids eat free at most chains one night out of the week. Find out when and go.

Shop at thrift stores

Looking for clever ways to save money on clothes? People are finding brand name attire at thrift stores like Goodwill along with must-have vintage items. You can find clothes and shoes for the entire family, plus items for the home.

Take your leftover dinner to lunch

Some don’t like having the same thing two days in a row, but taking a packed lunch to work will save you from having to buy lunch every day.

Make a roast beef sandwich using the meat from last night. Shred your meat and top it on your favorite greens for your lunch the next day. The aroma coming from the microwave will make everyone envious. Michelin style cooking made from home at no extra cost!

If you want to know how to save money on a budget, the answer is to save more, spend less. It’s just that simple. Instead of buying new, buy refurbished items and try purchasing wholesale.

How to save money each month? Buy in bulk and buy off-season. Use coupons and coupon codes for everything, including the trip through the drive-thru if you must eat out.
